Harleys Inn

Traffic made me arrive after check-in time. Nicola texted to say that if I got there after 8pm, I should call and they would arrange check-in. Then I got a phone call saying I wouldn’t be accommodated because the terms and conditions say check-in is by 8pm. Absolutely disgusting practice. They don’t seem to understand delays that can’t be avoided. Booking.com tried calling and emailing, but both were ignored, leaving me without accommodation on a Sunday night. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had. I’ve travelled all over the UK for work for several years and have never had a problem checking in, whatever time I arrived.

We hired the function room for our wedding evening reception and had a lovely night. The staff were helpful and lovely, and DJ Tony made the evening with a great selection of music to dance to. We stayed overnight in one of the rooms. It was clean, well equipped with tea and coffee, and had a comfy bed. Breakfast was extra, but very nice, with a good selection. Thanks to all the staff for making the evening special. We’ll book again if we need to.

The people were friendly and it’s in a good central spot. I walked over from the local campsite on a Friday, though, and they don’t serve food at Friday tea time. Maybe that was my mistake, but Google makes it look like they do.

The Sunday carvery was lovely, with a nice atmosphere and very good prices.
