We found some lovely little walks nearby, and the breakfast was just as gorgeous as dinner. We tried several dishes because we couldn’t settle on one, and every plate was cooked beautifully and packed with flavour. The staff were polite and welcoming, and the rooms were lovely and clean. A beautiful little getaway, we had a fantastic stay and would recommend it 👌

We ended up needing a local hotel at very short notice because of an emergency, and we were so glad we booked here for two nights. The manager(?) made us feel extremely welcome, and the service was excellent even with a large birthday party keeping everyone rushing back and forth. We ate in the bar both nights with our labrador. The menu had lots to choose from, including pub classics and Indian food. I had lovely butter chicken and fantastic tikka chicken, while my partner’s generous lamb shank was cooked perfectly. Our room was a decent size and very clean, with a small fridge and tea and coffee facilities. We’d definitely stay again, and visit the restaurant for a meal sometime. Highly recommend it.

The covered outdoor seating had a lovely feel to it. Four of us came for a birthday, and the meal made it a really enjoyable evening. The menu was extensive, so I went for Indian dishes and the rest of my family chose English ones. We had three courses and couldn’t fault anything. The staff were lovely, polite and attentive. I was very impressed and will definitely go again. Thanks for making my birthday so enjoyable.

The setting and building were the first things I noticed, surrounded by pretty countryside, with a well-kept restaurant. The wood, lighting, seating and interiors have a timeless feel. We were seated quickly, and the menu, including the monthly specials, looked promising. The staff were friendly, attentive and gave good service. The food was freshly made, but the flavours were disappointing and the portions poor for the prices. The chicken and paneer starters were decent, but had only a drizzle of sauce and none on the side. The butter chicken was bland, and the nicely presented chicken biryani had masala that wasn’t properly cooked and lacked the expected punch. There was only a tiny serving of raita, and the dal portion for £8 was almost comically small. I’d hoped the meal would give me a reason to come back, but left disappointed. I might recommend it for the views, and perhaps for trying the British food.

The service was friendly and everything was spotlessly clean, so it’s worth making a special trip. I already thought the Indian food was some of the best I’d ever had, then I tried the fish and chips one day with low expectations. I was blown away. It’s the best fish and chips I’ve had out in as long as I can remember. An Indian restaurant in a traditional English pub that also serves proper pub food, and they’ve now added purity ales to the bar.
