The food was excellent and the portions were generous, and our server was great and knowledgeable. That surprised us given the place had only been open a few days. Since the change of ownership and refurbishment, the dining area looks wonderful, and the menu has lots of varied, interesting options. I’d have no hesitation recommending it.

There weren’t enough seats for drinks, since the place now feels more like a restaurant than a bar, with an area sectioned off so diners can presumably have a quieter experience. We spent around £100 on a round and were made to feel uncomfortable, with people repeatedly asking us to move out of their way. When one of the children spilled a soft drink, they basically tutted. We asked for another and paid for it, but it would’ve been a nice gesture to offer one to the upset kid. I’ve never felt so uncomfortable just having a drink. Won’t be rushing back.

I’ve been here many times over the years, but today was a bad experience. The man serving me was friendly, though his nose was running the whole time and he kept wiping it, which didn’t feel hygienic while he was handling food. The affogato now only comes with alcohol, which I didn’t want, and it was very expensive to get it without. There were still lots of coffee granules in the drink, which was unpleasant and should have been smooth. The brownie dessert came with a sauce I couldn’t eat. I left the brownie because the sauce was awful. Everything was overpriced, and I couldn’t finish any of it. If you’re in the area, I’d try somewhere else.

Lovely decor and a great location, and it’s dog friendly, with some areas they can’t go into. We’ve come for dinner a few times, but the food has unfortunately been pretty bad on our more recent visits. We had the gammon and roast dinner lately. It’s still a good place to go for a drink.
