We first came across this place a few years ago and now return every year, sometimes more than once. It’s one of the Lake District’s best campsites. There’s a lot here: a shop, three shower blocks, a coffee shop and even a chippy. The bar opens midweek as well as at weekends. They cater for all sorts, from tents and cottages to caravans, motorhomes and statics. Wi-Fi is strong in most areas, and the staff are lovely and really helpful.

The overflow area worked brilliantly for the kids to play, and the views of the tell and lake were beautiful. We appreciated them fitting us in at the last minute. The site has a great park, clean toilet and shower blocks, a well-stocked shop and a fish and chip takeaway with great food. Lovely campsite, friendly staff and really good facilities.

We were told on Friday evening that there was plenty of space and that we could ring back Saturday morning after 9 to book, since my partner didn’t have his card with him when we called at 7:15pm. But when we rang, a different woman said they don’t accept bookings on the day. She also asked if we were meeting anyone at the site. I’d said it was just me and my partner, and it left me feeling that she didn’t believe us and had already decided not to book us in. She went away, then came back and repeated that they don’t take same-day bookings. My family had recommended the site and had booked on the day before, so that added to the confusion. The refusal itself wasn’t as upsetting as how it was handled. I’d rather they’d said no on Friday than have us get ready for the two-hour drive only to be turned away after being told to call back. I messaged the holiday park on Messenger to say we’d called at 7.15pm Friday and explain how disappointed I was. They’ve read it but haven’t replied. I’ll think twice before staying here in future.

This was our second visit to Ullswater holiday park, and we couldn’t fault it. Great atmosphere, family friendly, and it has everything you need for camping or touring. I’m sure we’ll be back soon for visit number three.

We had a fantastic three-night stay at Ullswater Holiday Park in our Campervan and have just got home. The setting is stunning, and the site is immaculate. The toilet and shower block stayed clean throughout, and the staff were extremely helpful and polite. We really enjoyed the tasty food from the on-site fish and chip shop. I’d highly recommend it.
