Best Western White House Hotel

I still haven’t got my £50 deposit back, even though I was told at check-in it would be released when I checked out. At checkout, the hotel said it would be refunded within three days. It’s been much longer, and each time I visit or contact them, the explanation and timeline change. First it was three days, now it’s supposedly 3-14 working days. It feels like they’re lying to customers instead of being honest and professional. If they need to check for damage or missing items, they could ask guests to wait in the lobby, inspect the room, and return the deposit straight away. Holding people’s money for days without a valid reason is completely unacceptable and shameful for a hotel. I’m very disappointed with the service and how they handle deposits. I wouldn’t recommend this place because of the poor customer service and unprofessional deposit handling.

I had the worst sleep ever. It was noisy and uncomfortable, and felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The place isn’t that cheap, either. They charged me a £50 deposit in case I damaged the room, which made me wonder if that’s what they expect from their average customer. I’m still waiting for it back. I’ll remove this review once it’s returned, because the service was already really low level and then we had to pay extra on top of that experience. I’ve added a photo of the view, but more importantly, of the source of the noise I had to put up with constantly during my stay.

We picked this place because it’s close to the Harry Potter Studio tour, but after barely sleeping I’m so tired that I’m not looking forward to the tour. The rooms are too hot, and the hotel sits right on a busy main road. Opening the window only brought in more traffic noise. People were loud outside all night, and the large car wash out front may have had machinery running too. The road sounded like a racetrack, with emergency vehicles and sirens passing many times overnight. My teenagers were on the opposite side of the hotel and had no better experience. Inside noise wasn’t much of an issue, but the hotel itself looks very tired, though it was reasonably clean for the price. Reception staff were nice enough, and we got the last parking space, but spaces are very limited. Avoid at all costs.

The rooms are a bit dated and tired, but I had a very good night’s sleep. With some money spent updating them, this could be one of the best hotels around. The reception area is tidy, with sports on a big screen and comfortable seating. It’s a very good hotel close to the centre, within walking distance, and you can also take the bus to Harry Potter world.
