Grove End

The room was clean, modern and comfortable, even though the place doesn't look like much from outside. We had plenty of free parking, and there's a lovely garden tucked away. The staff member we spoke with was helpful and friendly, and even upgraded our room at no charge. Watford is about a 20-minute walk away.

The garden is lovely, and the rooms have modern conveniences, though the place still feels rooted in the past. Nobody seems in a hurry here, so it’s a good choice if you want to take your time and relax. For me, being near the office I work at, having good parking and free Wi-Fi were extra positives. If you’re after efficiency and a soulless modern setting, Premier Inn down the road might suit you better.

Room one felt dated, though the bed was comfortable. Soap was by the toilet at the opposite end from the shower, and the shower gel was outside the shower. Weird setup, please put it by the sinks. The shower was good until it suddenly went cold, maybe because someone in room two was showering at the same time. The bloke was friendly, and there’s free Wi-Fi and parking, but I wouldn’t stay again. Once the door to the area was shut, there was no light to see the keyhole for room one. :-(

There are local shops and restaurants within walking distance, and free parking on site. The room was clean and tidy, with tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary bottled water.
