Getting to the airport and Watford center was easy, but finding the apartment took some effort. It’s among business outfits away from the main thoroughfare, and we drove around the car park looking for it. The building says Century Court, not Homely. We spent 15 minutes trying to work out the main door because its lock was broken. There’s no lift, and in our case nobody to speak to about the apartment. Keep hold of your key: the door shuts so quickly you can get locked out. The furnishings are adequate, though the cookware isn’t very good. There’s a washer, but the windows don’t open out, which I can imagine being unpleasant in summer.

I booked this place at first, but luckily a very supportive Airbnb representative named Mercides helped cancel it. The listing was inaccurate: it said there was air conditioning, but there wasn’t. When I contacted the owner, he said they don’t provide cooling services in the UK because the infrastructure isn’t there, which wasn’t correct. The listing also showed a baby crib and cot that weren’t available, and the dining chairs didn’t match the photos. I sent the evidence to the helpful Airbnb administration staff, who acted quickly and refunded the full amount. They also offered to help find another suitable property so our move could go ahead as quickly as possible. Thanks again for all that help. It made our day and kept the trip schedule from being ruined.

We’re sitting here shivering right now. The heating isn’t on, and there are no instructions. The only heated room is the bathroom. There isn’t enough bedding for five people, so we’re all sharing one bed and a camp bed. We feel like packing up and going home, but we’re stuck here for another night. I messaged the page listed in the welcome book and got no reply. What’s the point of providing it if nobody gets back to you?

We booked two weeks at first, then extended by another three. Dealing with Homely was a pleasure, and everything was handled very efficiently. The property was spotless, well appointed and very Covid friendly. I’d highly recommend it.
