Columbia Hotel & Restaurant

It was warm and clean, with basic facilities, parking, and access to the room after the restaurant closed. But it’s right by a busy road, so outside noise was loud, and the walls are thin. One night a couple shouted for hours. The bathroom heating didn’t work, the bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the bedding wasn’t warm enough. I had to use the extra pillow and duvet from a spare single bed.

Our family room was spotlessly clean, including the bathroom, and the beds were comfy. There was tea, coffee, and toiletries in the room, and breakfast was amazing. I’m picky about quality, so 10/10 from me. The service was great, and it’s just over 15 minutes from Santa Pod raceway, making it a perfect base for a day at the track. The property itself is tired and dated, but we’d definitely book again if we need a hotel for Santa Pod. Just what we needed.

We got a warm welcome and the room was clean, though very dated. The bed was very comfortable, I slept OK, and the bathroom was spacious, with clean, nice towels. But there were empty cans and rubbish all around the hotel entrance, huge cobwebs above the shower, and the fire alarm woke me at 3.10 a.m. I wasn’t happy that the room was cleaned while we were out without anyone asking first. There are amenities nearby, and family were within walking distance. We didn’t have breakfast, and the stay definitely wasn’t worth what we paid. I won’t be back.

The owners were friendly during our two-night stay, and they were working on improvements. Since new management took over three months ago, they’ve been putting things right, though it may take time after the previous owners neglected parts of the hotel. The decor is outdated, but our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. We enjoyed breakfast and had a comfortable stay. We’d come back and see what changes they’ve made.
