We had a great stay and will definitely come back. The staff made us feel welcome, the food was good and good value, and our room was comfortable and nice.

Pete reckoned the lamb shank was the best he'd ever had, and everyone enjoyed the fresh, superb food. There were 16 of us for dinner on Saturday, and we all felt relaxed and happy. Carston was so friendly, the beer was good, and the prices were good too. We gave Sue a big cheer when she came out of the kitchen. Thank you.

The Sunday roast was gorgeous, and the children had games to play. Everyone on staff was friendly and attentive with my daughters, which was a lovely touch. Cillian was a great barman, and the music was superb when he picked up the guitar. Excellent pub, we'll definitely be back!

After walking through the rain with our 9-year-old, we were told there'd be no food because a birthday party was on. They offered no apology or explanation and just left us to it. There was no notice outside to warn us, even though we'd stopped by the day before to check for exactly this sort of thing. We went elsewhere to eat. We'd been told to expect lovely meals and welcoming hospitality, so that was a real letdown. Not impressed at all.
