Esklet Guest House

I visited a few weekends ago, and it was lovely. The room had a nostalgic feel, like staying at my nan’s when I was a kid. A lovely woman welcomed me when I arrived, the bathroom was spacious, and the bed was so comfortable I could’ve slept for hours.

The room was clean, nicely decorated, and had an en-suite. A lovely, friendly couple greeted me and showed me to it. The guest house sits at the top of Whitby, with fantastic views and places to eat and drink just two minutes away. Whitby town is a five-minute walk. It feels like a hidden gem, and I’d highly recommend it.

Having the family room on the ground floor made a real difference for me because stairs are difficult. It was peaceful, the beds were comfortable, and the room was clean with handy tea and coffee facilities. They didn’t clean during our stay, but topped up the coffee supplies and toilet paper. We’d wanted somewhere affordable and comfortable in Whitby, and Esklet suited us well. Shops, beaches and the museum were easy to reach on foot, and they provided parking discs for the controlled zone.

I was travelling on my own and felt safe here. The entrance locks behind you, so you need a key to get back in. I could request a scratch card for parking on the street in the zone, too. My single room had its own bathroom just along the hall. There was a sink, mini fridge, kettle and drinks, plus a wardrobe, TV, side table, lamp, chair and bed. The decor was lovely and the bed was comfortable. I was glad there was a little note explaining how to pull down the top of the traditional sash window, as I’d never used one before.
