New Inn - Dorchester

We had a fantastic lunch, and the setting was just as good. Our group of six adults and four children got a warm welcome, with high chairs already set out, then we were shown to our table. The menu had plenty of choices for everyone, from starters and appetisers to lunch and dinner dishes. The host was really personable, and the staff timed everything well. We never had to wait long after finishing a course. The starters and mains were delicious, fresh, and perfectly cooked. We were told most of the ingredients came from local farms or the nearby coast. We all cleared our plates and left full. The outdoor area looks across local farms and fields, with lovely views, so it would be a nice spot even just to stop for a drink. Thanks for having us. We’d happily return to the area and come back here.

The garden at The New Inn looks out over the Dorset hills, and it’s beautiful. We’ll be back. My husband and I were pleased to find a vegan menu on our first visit, with plenty of choices at the carvery. The vegetables were cooked in Flora, so we could enjoy those too. The nut roast was delicious, and we finished with Bakewell tart and ice cream. Everyone on staff was friendly and accommodating. Many thanks.

For a very reasonable price, we got a clean, comfortable stay that felt like an old English town inn. The rooms were well insulated and had enough space, with towels and toiletries provided. We visited in summer, and there was air conditioning for each bed. WiFi was great for a small town, and the large English breakfast was included. Inside and outside pub areas had a sociable feel, with games and a pool table. The view was lovely, with pheasants and rabbits in the fields and a gorgeous sunset. I was glad to show my tourist friends an authentic stay in Dorchester that was still clean and efficient. It’s a quick drive to the Cider Museum, shooting ranges, and Durdle Door Beach.

The Sheer-luck Holmes murder mystery dinner last night was tremendous fun, with superb food and service. We stayed for B&B afterwards and had a lovely, comfortable room and delicious breakfast. It was a perfect short getaway for both of us. Well done, Jonathan and team. We can’t wait to book one of your next events.
