After the venue replied to my review, I felt I had to add this: what a ridiculous response. It only reinforced how little the manager seems to care about customer service. I gave two stars overall, including one for the service, and my complaint was that food was poor and a maintenance man walked into my room while I was asleep. Their response was just that they hoped to see me again. Wow. For the price, especially in that location, the stay seemed good value at first. Parking was plentiful when I arrived, and the £10 overnight fee paid at reception seemed standard. The receptionist was helpful and nice, and the restaurant staff were friendly and polite. My room was clean, tidy, spacious, and had plenty of tea, coffee, and sugar, plus a hairdryer. I had booked for two, though I ended up travelling alone, and there was just one set of towels. It would help if housekeeping had the updated guest numbers, so people don’t need to call reception for extra towels. The food was a letdown. My pulled pork burger had too many chewy fatty bits, and the chips were cold inside, as if they were frozen and hadn't cooked through. I’d choose another dish or eat elsewhere. Then at 9am a maintenance man walked into my locked room while I was sleeping. He must have had a master key. It was frightening. The receptionist or manager said an IT glitch had marked the room as vacant, but that wasn’t acceptable. As a woman travelling alone for work, it ruined the stay and my initially good impression of the hotel. I thought offering breakfast free as an apology would have shown some care, but the manager only blamed the system and offered no compensation or resolution. In the end, it was an okay stay for the price and location, but with some serious hiccups.

We stayed for one night a couple of weeks ago while visiting for a concert with my friend and her family. The hotel looked lovely, and I had no complaints about my clean, spacious room or its amenities. The courtyard was nice too, with seats, fairy lights, and ashtrays, and it wasn’t closed off at night. After the concert, three of us went out for a cigarette. A staff member came over after about five minutes and asked us to keep it down. We apologized and said we’d whisper. We weren’t particularly loud, but we spent the next ten minutes whispering anyway. Then another, younger staff member told us not to talk at all. If guests can’t speak there at night, why leave the courtyard open? None of us had been drinking, and we were all pretty tired, so we weren’t rowdy or really loud. The second man came across as patronizing and intimidating. He asked for our room numbers, and we didn’t give him the right one because he made us feel as if he might charge us for talking. When I said we’d sit in silence, he challenged me and replied sarcastically. We were unhappy with his attitude. I checked the hotel reviews afterward and couldn’t find any complaints about courtyard noise. I’ve never been told to shut up at a hotel when we were trying to be respectful outside. After that, I felt uncomfortable and we hurried back to our rooms. Glad we were only there one night.

The only small downside was that our room got a little hot because it didn’t have air conditioning. Everything else was perfect. The hotel is convenient for the town centre, and the beds are comfortable. The ceremony room and dining tables looked lovely, and the wedding breakfast was nicely presented and well cooked. We held our wedding at The Ship in Weybridge in September 2025. Sarah, the manager, was a fantastic planner who didn’t miss any details. The team were courteous and very helpful, and they made the day go smoothly. Our guests all said they had a great time. It’s a lovely venue, and I’d recommend it to couples without a huge wedding budget. Thanks, Ship Hotel!

The starters were great, and the restaurant itself was lovely. We were the only party there, with six of us celebrating my husband’s 60th after a visit to Brooklands museum. My ribs were another story. I ate one, then cut into a second and grease poured out from underneath. It was so oily and shiny, not juice from the meat. I couldn’t eat the rest of my dinner, and since leaving yesterday I’ve been extremely unwell with chronic sickness. When I was asked why I hadn’t eaten, the woman just shrugged and said, “Oh, OK, they can be juicy.” Nobody even offered to take the ribs off the bill. It really spoiled what had been a great day.

I’m pregnant and couldn’t travel down from Scotland for health reasons, even though I’d booked a room. The booking apparently wasn’t cancellable, which I hadn’t noticed at the time, so that part was my mistake. But I gave plenty of notice and got no understanding at all. I even had someone who could go in my place, but they wouldn’t let that happen either. A really awful experience. It felt like all they wanted was my money, and it’s sad to see so little kindness or principle in a situation like this. Choose somewhere with a bit of humanity instead of a cold business making money from empty and double-booked rooms. I also asked several times whether they could charge a cancellation fee as a compromise, but never got an answer.
