Boaters Guesthouse

A lovely midweek break. The service was attentive and friendly, and the rooms were very clean and well equipped, though a little dated. The shower was on the small side. You're a minute's walk from the seafront, harbour, and shops.

A friendly guesthouse in Weymouth, close to both the beach and town. The owners are nice. Recommended.

For the Weymouth 70.3 Ironman, the location is hard to beat: the finish line is just minutes away, and you're right by the sea. Our room, room 5, was comfortable and had plenty of storage, but the wardrobe rail was so close to the shelf above that hanging clothes was awkward. There was also nowhere to put towels after a shower. We found the owners unfriendly and hard to approach. On day two, when two of our party came into the B&B, the owner asked, “Who are you?” because they hadn't recognised us from the day before. They also said it wasn't worth making breakfast for one guest, since the others were leaving early for the Ironman, even though we'd paid for it. The website advertised free parking, but on arrival we were told there were only a few permits and they'd all been given out. Nearby car parks have time limits and are expensive. It's well placed for the event, but we wouldn't recommend staying here.

The location puts you close to everything, and the cooked breakfast is worth trying. The usual breakfast choices seemed to be available as well. The rooms have everything you should need, and my bed was very comfortable. It's a clean, straightforward B&B run by a friendly, hard-working couple. If stairs are difficult for you, ask for a lower floor, though the climb is worth it for the view. Well worth a stay.
