The harbour-front setting gives this hotel a lot of character, and my room was stylish and quaint with a lovely sea view. The corridors are a complete maze, a bit like The Shining, though the lift is there if you need it. The lad at the desk even offered to show me to my room, so take him up on it if you don't want to get lost. I enjoyed wandering around those halls anyway, haha!

Once inside, our room was a lovely surprise: it had been refurbished to a high standard, with a big TV that had all the apps, toiletries, fluffy towels and a complimentary tray. We were given a front room on the third floor, and there was a lift. The corridors looked badly in need of refurbishment and had us a little concerned, but the large bay window and amazing view across the bay of Weymouth made up for that. We booked on spec while passing through.

The breakfast options may be limited, as some people have said, but I didn't think that was a big deal. It filled you up, and at almost £5 for breakfast I thought it was worth it. I stayed here for three days and found the location and staff service perfect. The building is really old, though, and the room sound insulation is poor. One night I could clearly hear what customers in the next room were saying while I was lying in bed. Maybe they could improve that.

If you're staying in Weymouth, this is the hotel I'd choose. The location can't be beaten, and paying a little extra for a sea view is worth it, you'll be amazed. The rooms are beautiful and the beds so comfortable. Steve and his team are truly amazing, and they made our stay memorable. Thank you to everyone at fairhaven. We'll definitely be back.

We paid £220 for one night without breakfast and had no hot water. Another room apparently had no hot water or electricity. Nobody told us about any problems at check-in. When we reported the lack of hot water around 5-6pm, we were told it would be fixed by 7.15pm, but the manager then left us without hot water for our one-night stay. I reported it twice in the morning and was told there wasn't another room where we could shower, even though she had mentioned their sister hotel, and that nothing could be done. I asked the manager to email me. Kyle did, apologised, and said there would be no compensation. The manager wasn't there at checkout and left the receptionist to deal with unhappy guests. She also said she hadn't known about the problems. I've added a picture of our view. I'm not here to discuss the old decor. I'd stay away from this place.
