The host was warm, welcoming, thoughtful and attentive, and arranged a room for me on a higher floor. It had a wide view, warm sunlight and even a panoramic view of River Bay. The location, right next to River Bay, is excellent. The hotel is beautifully and distinctively decorated, with ocean-inspired details throughout that suit its name. You can tell the host has great taste and a strong artistic sensibility. Highly recommended!

We booked the whole of Maxine and The Ocean Guest House for a company trip, for a full week with different guests each day. With six people arriving from all over the country every day and leaving at different times, Maxine was faultless at helping us organise and coordinate everything. The hotel is unique and beautifully decorated, and Maxine is friendly, fun and couldn’t do enough to help us. We booked the same place last year and will do it again next year. I wouldn’t use any other guest house for our annual event accommodation.

That window view over the arcade and beach was brilliant, and the room was really spacious. We had the traditional breakfast with eggs, beans, bacon, sausages and mushrooms, though there was lots else to choose from, including cereal, toast and fruit. The bar looked good too, with fair prices, though I didn't try it myself. Maxine was such a lovely, helpful host. We had a great stay at Ocean Gate Hotel and are already planning another visit. I'd happily recommend it for a few days by the beach 😁
