Being right on the seafront, with the town centre up the road, the station around the corner, buses outside and a small bus station by the pier, makes getting around easy. There are cafes and local food shops along the high street and promenade, and more places to eat or drink by the harbour where you can watch the boats come and go. The hotel itself is lovely, with amazing rooms, spacious beds, en suite bathrooms and flat-screen TVs, plus tea and coffee making facilities including a kettle. The food is amazing, made with great ingredients and served in very big portions. The dining room is laid out well, and staff are always happy to help you find your table or during the meal. Staff are friendly and helpful, and management is approachable and ready to assist with anything you need. Great value for money, with good in-house entertainment too.

Mum went on the 23rd, and it was a terrible Christmas that was completely ruined. The buffet was almost out of food, and what remained was damaged. We had to sit at the bar wearing hats and scarves because it was freezing. The entertainment was something else. Never again. Aaron was the one amazing, hard-working person there.

We really enjoyed our recent stay and would come back. The rooms were clean, staff friendly and helpful, and the evening entertainment was very good. Great value for money.

This was our third year at The Russell hotel in Weymouth, and the staff have always been friendly and helpful. After I fell at Wareham train station, they were very attentive. As soon as they heard what had happened, they brought out the first-aid kit and patched me up. I can't praise them enough, and we'll keep recommending the hotel and its staff.

The two receptionists we met were warm and welcoming, and our room was quiet and pleasant even without a sea view. It had been refurbished beautifully: spotless, with a comfortable bed, a huge wall-mounted TV, a very clean kettle, and a window that opened wide. Since it was warm that weekend, they'd also provided a fan. The bathroom looked brand new and was spotless too, with great water pressure and a quiet fan. Really good value. We'll be back.
