The Sherlock Café is right outside, with rich cheesecakes, scones and light lunches. Inside, the cottage is full of character, with charming little nooks and tasteful decor. The kitchen has everything you need, and there’s a fireplace in the front room, though we didn’t use it. The beds are cosy and the linen is soft. The loft mattresses are softer than the very firm double, so you can choose what suits you. Bring your own hairdryer. We’ve fallen for this lovely place and thoroughly recommend it.

Everything felt so homely, and Inglenook Cottage was spotless. You can tell a lot of thought went into making it a lovely holiday cottage. We all loved it and can’t wait to book again.

We loved the little mice and other animals dotted around, especially the mouse door on the stairs. The second bedroom was a bit of a challenge to reach, but we managed, and the facilities were excellent. The cottage is right in central Whitby, yet inside it’s so quiet. A lovely, quirky place.
