We had a brilliant time on both visits, one for the Thursday quiz and the other for Sunday karaoke. The pub has great drink prices, fun locals and lovely staff. Sammy, who runs karaoke, made us feel especially welcome and included.

There’s a lovely view from the back terrace, and the pub also has live music and Sky Sports. It’s spread across several rooms and is home to Lady Luck Brewery, with nine handpumps including a real cider. Lady Luck makes five core beers on its 18 gallon kit. I tried Upside Down (Black IPA), Kraken (Session IPA) and Seagull's Meeting (Hazy IPA).

Nice atmosphere, good music and football on the screens. They have a broad drinks selection, including beers brewed on site. It loses a point for being up a hill.

I’ve been coming here for 23 years and still love the place. It’s my favourite pub in Whitby, and probably plenty of other places too, with a great alternative scene and good beer. I haven’t stayed overnight, so I can’t comment on the rooms.

Another amazing Halloween weekend night here. Even with the place very busy, the bar staff were helpful, professional and friendly, and the music was great. This is our regular choice when we’re in Whitby.
