Mum and I stopped here first after arriving in Whitby. The two women behind the bar welcomed us, helped us find a seat and made us feel at home. We tried the kipper and chicken liver pate, and both were delicious. A great little pub to stop at, I’d recommend it.

For me, this and the Fleece are Whitby’s best pubs. It’s quirky, with excellent ale and efficient service, and the front room has the best atmosphere. I’m sorry I didn’t try the tempting "yapas" food.

We’re in Whitby for my birthday week and dropped in yesterday while the weather was wild and wet. The famous ‘Yapas’ lived up to expectations. Coming in from the storm, we were greeted so warmly by friendly, helpful staff. Before long we were settled, relaxing and enjoying the delicious food. Highly recommend a visit to this atmospheric pub when you’re in magical Whitby. Thank you to everyone working there 😊

Games and music add to the cosy feel here, but the music isn’t so loud that you can’t talk. It’s a traditional pub with a friendly welcome and modern food and drink choices. We had tasty cheese on toast with local chutney, and there were veggie and vegan dishes as well as lots of drinks to choose from. I’d love to come back when we’re in Whitby again.

We only spent time in the bar, where there was plenty of choice, including guest beers, and a lovely friendly atmosphere. We’d already eaten, otherwise we would have tried the Yaps. That’s on the list for our next visit!
