The Wednesday closure of the bar and restaurant was odd, with nothing open day or night. On the other days, the food and bar were busy, so it seems a shame for staff and guests. Reception was stretched too, with one girl making drinks, answering phones and handling questions. Some quieter entertainment during the week would be nice; there was just an acoustic guitarist on Sunday night. Still, we had a lovely week and plan to come back next year. This was our third visit to Piran Meadows. We always book a two-bedroom Wadebridge and ask for the same caravan, which has never disappointed. It was clean and well equipped, and we love the two bathrooms and the walk-in wardrobes, one for me and one for my husband. The only niggle was a thick layer of ice at the top of the freezer that made it difficult to close and use. We paid an extra £30 this time to get into the caravan by 2pm, which we preferred. In previous years we were always able to get in early for free, so I'm not sure we'd pay for that again.

The pool was good, including the outdoor splash area, though there was very little seating. The soft play suited younger children, but older kids were allowed in and caused a stir that unsettled them. Bingo was advertised, but didn't go ahead because of short staffing. We also waited over an hour for a pint of cider, then another hour for food on a few occasions. With a 1-year-old and an 8-year-old, that was far from ideal. During the heat wave, eating inside was unpleasant because the building had no air conditioning. We were a family of four with one dog, staying in an Austall 2, number 36. The site looked pleasant and well presented when we arrived, and the pool and bar were good. The caravan felt overpriced for what it was. It needed attention: there was a musty dog smell on entry, rusty and dirty radiators, and a grimy outdoor area that hadn't been power washed. It did the job, but wasn't very comfortable. We paid near 1k for the week and didn't feel the quality justified that cost. The site needs TLC and more staff to run the advertised activities. The pictures gave a different impression from what we found, and unfortunately I wouldn't stay again.

The hot tub was nice, but the rest of the stay was awful. We left early at the end of May. The caravan smelled of dog, had mould on the walls and curtains, a filthy uncleaned sofa, lifting carpet and a lot of wear and tear. The radiator was rusty, and the beds were uncomfortable. Several facilities weren't working: bowling was out of order, as was the arcade cash machine. The bar was closed most of the time, and the barbecue area felt like a safety hazard. The manager was rude. Never again. Please read the reviews before booking. I'm not the first to describe problems like these, and I'm still waiting for a response to my complaint with hoseasons.

There’s a bus stop a few minutes’ walk away, with regular services. The grounds were well kept, the caravans nicely spaced, and reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our caravan looked good outside and was a high standard inside, with a well equipped kitchen and everything clean. Having visited over 30 parks around the UK, this is one of the best I've stayed at, and I'd definitely return. Some people are very critical about trivial things in their reviews. It's a caravan park, not a 6 ☆ hotel.

After a five hour drive, it was lovely to sit on the decking with a beer and bacon roll. I arrived early, and check-in was quick. They even gave my dog a welcome gift box, which was a nice surprise. I stayed four nights with my dog to see friends and family. The caravan was lovely, with a good parking area, a large grassy space and secure decking off the lounge. The site was peaceful, and we enjoyed morning and evening walks before and after days out. Communication beforehand was good and included all the information I needed. I didn't use the facilities, so can't comment on them. I'd definitely visit again.
