Glenfield House was a lucky find on our summer trip around the North of England. We’d picked a few places to stop along the way without much planning, and the house was just a short walk from town, a handy location for any length of stay. Kathy was lovely, and her three gorgeous dogs made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. Some of the furniture looked like it could have come from Versailles, which gave the room a heartfelt feel rather than the look of an Ikea catalogue. We had breakfast in the front garden, enjoying the sunshine that lasted for most of our visit. When we left, Kathy asked where we were headed next. After we told her, she got out a map and marked an alternative route through more of Cumbria’s beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back if we’re in the area again. Next time, we’ll contact Kathy directly for a much better price than the one advertised online. I’ve also included a few photos from the route she suggested.

Cathy made us feel so well looked after all weekend, and nothing was too much trouble. We’d booked last-minute tickets for Whitehaven alive and found Glenfield House with a quick Google search. The reviews looked good, and it was well placed for the centre. The full English breakfast was fabulous, my Mrs and I were really impressed. Shhhhhhh, maybe don’t tell everyone! Whitehaven itself is a lovely little seaside town, and the centre is an easy five-minute walk away. We’d happily recommend this B&B to friends and family. Thanks, Cathy, and a special mention to Archie, Lily and Flynn, the very friendly trio of dog's.

Cathy welcomed my friends and me for a three-night stay, along with her three adorable, well-behaved dogs. The rooms were beautiful and the food was great. There was nothing we didn’t like, and I’ll definitely come back.

The owner was friendly and exceptionally helpful, and the fresh, tasty breakfast was lovely. Our room was superb too. Glenfield House sits about halfway up a hill, and it has three quiet, friendly dogs who let the owner know when you’re heading to breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would choose it again.

On the way home from Scotland, my partner and I made a small detour from the M6 to stay here, and it was well worth it. The host was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, and the facilities were excellent. The bed was even more comfortable than mine at home. It’s a good spot, with supermarkets nearby and the seafront a 15-minute walk away. Thanks for a lovely stay.
