We found this pub by chance while visiting Blythe, and by 7pm it was busy with no tables free. Since we had a long drive home, we asked if we could use the bathrooms. The woman behind the bar was kind enough to fit the three of us in, and the whole team was welcoming and helpful. We tried the Friday fish deal for two: a huge portion of thick white fish, cooked just right, with crispy chips, mushy peas and a large pot of tea each. My husband had the cheeseburger, which looked good, though the chef had missed the extra patty. It was hearty and not as well done as he’d wanted, but he still enjoyed it. We were too hungry to stop for photos and dug straight in. A memorable visit, and one I’d recommend.

We had a great stay and really enjoyed the helpful, friendly staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, with plenty of seafood, generous portions and everything cooked to a high standard. We’d been looking for somewhere dog friendly, and this place was just right. Across the road there are easy off-lead walks with access to the beach.

The breakfasts were lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We also enjoyed the fish and chips, peas, bread and butter deal for two with tea, the Sunday lunch and the potato and leek soup. Room 4, though, was very small for our three-night stay. There was nowhere to unpack, just a little hanging space by the window, and my partner bumped his head on it. The kettle and two huge mugs took up the tiny bedside table along with all the tea things. We managed, but it wasn’t ideal for three nights. We’d previously stayed in room 5 next door, which had more space and somewhere for clothes. If we return, I’d check the room size and storage first, especially for a stay longer than one night. Hope this helps anyone booking.

I had the Waterford whale and really liked it. The batter was crisp, and the fish inside was moist and lily white. My brother’s mixed grill had a small issue, but the staff sorted it straight away. The setting and views were lovely, and the staff were welcoming and polite. We all chose different dishes, so I can’t speak to every meal, but the food was beautiful overall. I’ll definitely be back. Even the mushy peas were nice, lol.

The pub has a traditional feel and plenty of character, though there’s some wear and tear. It’s a relaxed, family friendly place, and the food was five star for everyone in our group, young and old. Service slowed a little after the mains when a bigger group arrived. We could see the staff were trying hard, and they were very friendly when we went to the bar to order dessert and drinks. They also noticed they hadn’t cleared our mains when bringing dessert and sorted it promptly. Definitely worth booking, just expect an easygoing pace. No complaints, it’s popular and there’s a lot happening.
