My train was delayed, but the owner stayed up past 11 pm to welcome me and was kind and helpful. The bedsheets were a little dirty, although comfortable. I didn't have time for breakfast, but the locally baked biscuits were a nice touch. Great value for money.

We came at a cold time of year, so I needed a space heater and the heated towel racks to stay warm. Still, Keith and Virginia are great hosts, the harbour view is stunning, and breakfast was much better than what you get at most American hotels. I'll definitely come back when I can.

I stayed in room #2 in February of 2026, and after reading the older reviews, I wanted to share what I found. Some reviews from two or three years back mention repeated problems, but more recent guests seem happier. I'd say go ahead and book. I've stayed in 18 man hostels and £400 rooms, and this B&B is nowhere near the low end. It's an older place and shows some wear, but my room wasn't filthy or run down. The bed was much bigger than I expected and comfortable, the sheets and towels were clean, and the surfaces were clean too. There was no musty smell. The large room had a bathroom, a little table by the window, a TV, a wardrobe, and a hairdryer. I loved watching the sunrise over the harbour while eating breakfast. There was also a self service tea and coffee station with lots of options and condiments. Virginia and Keith were lovely. Virginia showed me around and gave me recommendations. A sheet in the room lets you choose breakfast for either 0730 or 0900. Mine arrived right on 0730, with the hot food on a hot plate, and there was plenty for one. The shower was warm with pretty decent pressure for an older building. There is some old mould under the grout, some rust and some dust, though no new growing mould. The heating was very comfortable. For the price, it's one of the best rates in town. The bed, view and well stocked tea and coffee area made me happy. My only complaint was down to circumstances: another guest had a dog that barked whenever someone moved outside the room, and its owner hardly tried to calm it. The place seems to accept dogs, which could be a deal breaker. In my opinion, nothing I saw deserved a one or two star review, and whatever was wrong a few years ago seems to have been addressed. It's a very safe area, about a 10 minute walk to most food places. I was out alone around 10 pm and would definitely stay again. Well worth the price for me. My review is just for room #2, which faces the harbour from the street where you enter the building.

The room had great harbour views, and breakfast was amazing, delivered right to our room. The hospitality was amazing too. Our room was massive with great amenities, including a tea and coffee station and lovely shortbread. Just be aware the rooms are up two flights of stairs.

Keith and Virginia gave us a warm welcome, and the room had good facilities for the space, with a small table and stools and a Tassimo machine. The building has some history and sits right on the harbour. Our room had a great view, though I can't say if all rooms do. The modern-looking bathroom was clean, with only a few traces of old sealant. Breakfast delivered to our room was a novelty and fairly good quality, though it was a little overcooked on our one experience.
