Rettendon lodge events

The food was amazing, drinks kept coming, and the team made sure we had a great time. Angela, Hannah and Maisie were absolutely amazing, and the staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They were organised and kept everything running smoothly, with nothing too much trouble. We’d been let down by another restaurant, so called the Lodge at the last minute to book for 18 people. Within minutes Angela had arranged an area for us in the restaurant, with no hassle. Huge thanks to them all. We’ll definitely be back and recommend it 100%.

I only went to the restaurant for a family get-together, but came away impressed. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to find. The menu has a wide choice at reasonable prices, and service was quick with friendly staff. I also noticed a large outdoor garden and an area for events outside. Definitely worth a look if you’re planning an event or just want to go out for a meal.

The carvery was okay until we got to the potatoes, which weren’t ready. We were told another 4-5 minutes, but it was more like 10. You don’t want to start eating without potatoes. The gravy was cold, and when I asked for mine in a gravy boat, I could go on, but what was the point? Holding my hubby’s birthday lunch there was a bad choice. We shan’t be going back. My martini and tonic was also a disappointment. I asked for an extra dry martini with tonic and a slice of lemon, and was assured they had it. It came in the wrong measure, 25ml instead of 50ml, and looked cloudy. I tasted it before adding the tonic, and it was extra dry martini. I left it because my grandchildren were with us and I couldn’t be bothered to make a scene. My son asked for scampi and chips rather than a Sunday roast, which was fine, but they charged us £2 more because it was a bar meal. That’s crazy.

I’ve been here a few times for food and it’s always been delicious, with excellent service every time. It’s a nice place in a nice location, definitely worth visiting. I can’t comment on the accommodation, as I’ve only eaten here.
