Last night’s Valentine’s tasting menu was fantastic, especially the carpaccio. The chef was brilliant about adjusting the menu because I’m pregnant, and our waiter was outstanding, so kind and reassuring. The restaurant feels warm and welcoming, and we return whenever we’re in the area. Thanks for such a special evening!

Whenever we’re visiting my Dad, we always eat here and it never disappoints. It’s a family-run pub with a huge choice of wines, beers and spirits, especially gin, plus a fantastic menu. There’s great variety, quality and generous portions. Very dog friendly, and a proper old-fashioned Lakeland pub. Highly recommended.

We were only in the area for one night, otherwise we’d have gone to the Oddfellows again. Glad we booked: the steaks were cooked just right and the desserts were sublime. The menu all sounded so good that choosing was hard. Food arrived hot, was high quality and clearly cooked with care. Staff were excellent, and the cosy bar was warm and welcoming to us and our dogs. A perfect meal in a cheerful pub.

Just had Sunday lunch here. The pub felt homely, with a roaring fire, and the staff were lovely. We demolished two beautifully presented mains with incredible meat, a child’s meal and three desserts. The service was worth a tip. Well done, all!

We had a cosy Christmas Eve meal here with the family, and the food was amazing. I had bolognaise rigatoni with cheesy garlic bread and homemade chips; my Mrs had sirloin steak with king prawns. Nice pints of Peroni in a traditional pub too. Hopefully we’ll visit again soon.
