We loved walking along the front and taking in the beautiful sunsets. There was plenty to do both on the park and nearby, making it great for families or anyone after a relaxing break. Our weekend at Solway was brilliant. The spacious chalets were clean and well equipped, and the hot tub was a definite bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. We'll definitely be back!

The walk along the promenade was a real highlight, and there are plenty of places to visit a short drive away. The staff were lovely throughout, especially the restaurant team, and the Sunday lunch went down well with both the adults and children. Our lodge had lots of space and all the kitchen utensils we needed, though some parts felt a bit worn. We had to move furniture in the kids’ room because the bed blocked the door from closing. There were also a couple of maintenance problems: the toilet leaked and wouldn’t flush properly, and the hot tub wasn’t warming up. The maintenance team came by several times and tried hard to sort them out. We still had a pleasant stay thanks to the friendly feel and the setting. A few updates to the lodges would make it even better.

This spoiled what had been an enjoyable holiday. I couldn’t take my dog into the restaurant, so reception looked after him while I went in to place the order. Arcade food wasn’t available to order there in the first place, despite that being what I wanted. I ended up paying restaurant prices for three chicken strips and a tiny bit of lettuce, £7. When I complained, the restaurant manager responded rudely. Dreadful service.

Pitch 103 worked perfectly for our motorhome, with loads of room, EHU, and excellent toilets and showers. The staff were cheerful, the bars welcome dogs, and the holiday park has what a family could need. Silloth’s promenade is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the entrance and makes for a lovely stroll. There isn’t much in town, so don’t expect much nightlife. The touring pitches could use some attention: signs suggest quite a few would get very wet in serious rain. Apart from that, it’s a very nice site.

The kids loved the amusements, where rides were £2.50 each, and they could stay on the trampoline and bouncy castle for ages. There’s also a splash pad and play park, all within about a 20 minute walk, and the seafront is close by. The area was beautiful, and the staff were super friendly. The site is small but very busy, and the entertainment was good. We skipped the activities because they seemed overpriced. We stayed in a caravan over the bank holiday weekend with my two children, aged 5 and 9. It was roomy, the beds were really comfy, and it had the usual utensils. The shower was very weak, there weren’t nearly enough plug sockets, and the place wasn’t the cleanest. The heating was on a timer, so it was roasting when we arrived and again when we got back the next day. We also met up with friends staying in the touring area, which had great toilet and shower facilities. Lovely weekend, and I’d come back.
