Orchard Cottage

The setting is second to none, and the wildlife is beautiful. With an animal park nearby, being woken by monkeys is quite unusual. The property was clean and the decorating was up to date, and the jacuzzi was great and very well looked after by the owner. I would have preferred to care for it ourselves so we weren't restricted, as the owner said he would treat it at 10.30am every day, but that wasn't what happened. It was let to me as a luxury cottage, though it didn't feel like one. The furniture needs updating, some kitchenware did too, and the tea towels were old pub mats. I've slept on better beds in a youth hostel. We got one toilet roll, one bin bag and two dishwasher tablets for the week, and were told that was our welcome pack. There's no recycling or food waste disposal, either. I didn't feel we got value for what we paid, and all the rules made the stay feel restricted. It wasn't the luxury standard we've come to expect from the Sykes booking website.

A lovely, very clean cottage, close to the beaches at Watchet, blue anchor and dunster.
