Premier Inn Manchester - Handforth

Both rooms smelled damp and were icy cold when we got in. After half an hour we managed to turn on the radiator in one, but the other room's thermostat kept beeping and wouldn't work. We spent a freezing night without sleep, then told the receptionist early the next morning. She wouldn't come to see the faulty thermostat, only gave us a guest relations card and said to report it within 7 days. We'd had enough and checked out four hours early. Guest relations repeated my complaint back to me but refused to honour the advertised 'good night guarantee'. When I said not providing heat breached basic health and safety hotel protocol, they said they would do nothing, hoped we'd enjoyed our stay, and invited us back. What a joke. This was the worst Premier Inn experience my family and I have had, and that guarantee seems non-existent. We had booked last minute while visiting a very sick relative. We arrived late to find the hotel locked; the night buzzer didn't work and nobody heard us knocking. After ten minutes calling an automated line, we were redirected to reception. No one answered, but someone eventually poked their head out of a back office to let us in. It looked like they'd been watching television instead of covering reception. We checked in quickly, close to midnight, and went straight to our prepaid rooms with no apology for the awful start. Please don't waste your money here. It's awful.
