Holbrook Manor & Spa.

The Hayloft members’ club is a lovely place to go. The new candlelit evening menu in the cafe, with its light snacks, makes for a cosy visit. The jacuzzi is very good, and the sauna has been refurbished and is reliably hot. The steam room could use a little TLC, though it has plenty of hot steam. Reception staff are first-rate, friendly and welcoming.

We’ve enjoyed plenty of spa days elsewhere, so this was a real disappointment. We arrived at 12, but couldn’t have lunch until 1:45, and it was only a sandwich, which I didn’t understand. There was nothing to do, so we left around 12:30. Our treatment had been cancelled because of ill health, the pool was cold and had no room for loungers around it, and the steam room was out of order. The pool definitely needs refurbishment. We’d taken my daughter for a luxury spa day, but it felt far from luxurious. Groupon credited us back. I can’t comment on anything else.

The gardens were lovely, and seeing deer was a treat. The entrance looked fantastic with its Christmas tree and other light tree. Room 12 was huge, very clean, quiet and facing the garden. It was a little cold, but there were two extra heaters, which I switched on in the bedroom. Reception staff were very polite and helpful, including a young lad and a polite manager in a black suit jacket. Lunch was delicious and the coffee very good. I had a lovely massage, though the room was too cold and the bed wasn’t heated. The spa is very dated and needs an uplift, but it was quiet and I had the jacuzzi to myself for a long time. I’ll return. Holbrook hotel has so much potential; with a bit more TLC it could be unbelievable. It was good for what I went for. X

Holbrook Manor feels magical, tucked into the rolling Somerset landscape, with its garden room spa accommodation. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the quiet spaces, the spa facilities and some first-rate treatments. Everyone on staff was super friendly and helpful. Thank you all so much, highly recommend!
