The house has a real sense of history, with thoughtful interiors, family touches about jazz and trumpet playing, and the feel of somewhere that’s been lived in and cared for. There were useful basics waiting for us, plus a few welcome gifts. It’s a lovely Victorian terrace, with a long, well-kept garden looking out over equally cared-for gardens. Winchester’s centre is about a five-minute walk away. The shower had great pressure, and the fireplace was laid out ready to use at no extra charge.

The owner was so helpful and had thought of all the little things we might need. We slept well in the comfy bed, enjoyed the garden, and loved having a steam shower. A lovely little cottage.
