The cottage is right in the centre of town, which makes getting around Bowness easy, and breakfast was beautifully presented and cooked. Service was very good, with nothing too much trouble. We slept peacefully and comfortably in the quiet room, which had the essentials and nice decor, though some of the decor could use attention. There was plenty of room in the cottage, but as a giant of a man I found the shower too snug and the toilet awkwardly placed. We came by car and parking is extremely limited. Reversing out can be a nervous business if you're parked in the rear lane. Even so, yes, I'd recommend staying here. I'm sure the small decor issues will be addressed in time.

The host seemed very kind and friendly, and the location was ideal. But for the price, I was disappointed. There was no parking, the breakfast on the first morning felt below standard, with sausages like bullets and shrivelled mushrooms, and the room was basic and badly in need of refurbishment. There was a large stain on the side of the bed and mould spots on the bathroom ceiling. Based on earlier reviews and photos, it's disappointing to see such a variation in quality when these issues seem easily fixable.

Laurel Cottage is well placed for shops, lots of cafes and restaurants, and a brilliant bus service to everywhere. There's no parking, but that wasn't a problem for us. The staff were brilliant, and I'm going back with a friend in September 😊. My husband and I did notice that light sleepers may want to avoid a room at the front of the property.

We had a really lovely breakfast, with a choice of a full English, different eggs on toast, cereal, yogurt, and fruit to start. The coffee was freshly made, and you could help yourself. The host gave us a warm welcome and mentioned we'd been upgraded to a bigger room, which was a nice surprise. It was clean and tidy, with a lovely forest view. The road outside was a bit noisy, but with the windows shut we could barely hear it, and it was just a busy day anyway. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and we'll definitely book again.

After a long journey, we arrived for our honeymoon and asked if the room could be made a bit special. We were surprised with rose petals and a bottle of bubbly! The room was neat, the location really excellent, and the service first class. Thank you so much for the lovely surprise. We'd definitely like to stay again. 🥰
