Fir Trees Guest House

The staff were friendly, knew the area well, and made us feel welcome from arrival to departure. Our room was a good size, clean and tidy, with a very nice bathroom. Breakfast was great, especially the pancakes! 😄 The guest house is within walking distance of both Windermere and Bowness. I’m not sure when I’ll visit again, but I will, and I’d definitely stay here and recommend it. Thanks to the staff for the warm hospitality.

Tim and Vicki made their home feel like ours. They were such a lovely couple, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and help us get ready for our daily rides. My husband and I stayed at Fir Trees in early May while cycling around England, with Lake Windermere as our last leg. Tim had thought of everything, including a room with a bath so we could soak our tired muscles, even though we hadn’t requested one. He also washed, dried and folded our clothes. The room was lovely for recovery after each day, and breakfast exceeded what you’d expect, with fresh local produce, wonderful service and Tim’s poached eggs, which were to die for. The food was better than at any fancy hotel we’ve stayed in. We’ll definitely return next time we’re in the UK. I can’t recommend this lovely place enough. Thanks, Tim and Vicki. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order, and those homemade flapjacks were especially welcome after walking in the snow. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. The guesthouse sits between Bowness and Windermere, so even with heavy snow we could reach pubs, restaurants and bars in either village in about ten minutes on foot. Thanks for making the stay such a good memory. We hope to come back.

The room was warm, really comfortable and spotless, and breakfast cooked to order got us set for the day. We arrived very late during the snow on our early December weekend, but Tim and Vicki greeted us so warmly and looked after us brilliantly. Feels like we found a hidden gem. We’ll definitely be back.
