Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa

Breakfast had loads of tasty options, and we enjoyed the food at Blue Smoke, the W restaurant and the bar too. We’ve stayed twice now and love it here. Both times there was complimentary champagne in the room, and on this visit they also gave us gingerbread from the famous Grasmere gingerbread shop at check-in. The rooms are lovely, clean and so comfortable, with gorgeous ESPA products in the bathrooms. The staff are kind and helpful. I’d definitely recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed 😀

The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, and the food at both restaurants and the bar was excellent. Breakfast was a decent buffet too. We had a suite with a sitting room, and the lakeside setting and views were superb. The one thing that bothered us was the limited window for hotel guests to use the pool, sauna and steam room, no matter how long they were staying. Everyone ended up trying to go between 17:30-20:00, along with day spa visitors, so it could get too crowded to fully enjoy. It would seem more reasonable to offer more flexible times to guests staying for several nights.

The corridor near room 313 felt a bit dated and could do with a revamp, since it didn't quite fit with the lovely rooms and hotel foyer. Our room itself was modern and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was good quality with plenty to choose from. The spa was a special experience, with different saunas and steam rooms at a range of temperatures, plus indoor and outdoor pools looking over Lake Windermere. Staff were attentive and brought drinks wherever we were in the spa. They also handed out complimentary hot chocolate and brownies, a really lovely touch. The hotel and spa are in a stunning part of the Lakes, and I couldn't recommend them more.

The thermal spa was out of this world, and the whole place was beautiful and spotlessly clean. I visited for the Rise and Dine spa experience on 27/12/25, a treat from my partner for our anniversary while we were spending Christmas in the Lakes. Every staff member was so lovely and the service was 5*. Sitting in the hot tub with a glass of Prosecco and that gorgeous lake view was such a treat. The views were stunning, and the food was delicious. They kindly moved me to another table because the low sun was glaring in, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We’ve booked to be back in the Lakes next Christmas, and I’ll definitely visit again, maybe for longer.
