Montfort Cottage Guest House

The room was on the small side, but comfortable and had everything we needed, including toiletries. It’s about a mile from the lake, though there’s a bus stop close by with buses every 15 minutes if you need one. The owners were lovely, breakfast was nice, and the menu had choices beyond a full English. A very pleasant, cosy B&B in a good location.

The location worked well for us, between Windermere and Bowness On Windermere, and both were a fairly short walk away. Our hosts were friendly, the room felt modern, and the bed was comfortable. There was a generous tea and coffee tray with extra items, plus a great breakfast selection, including a Full English.

Breakfast is well worth adding, it was delicious. Our room had lovely decor and a comfortable layout, with all sorts of useful touches, from tea and coffee to cotton buds and shower caps. The owner greeted us personally and gave us plenty of helpful information about the area and our stay.

We had a beautiful view of the mountains from both the room and bathroom, and the cottage was clean and tidy throughout. Jayne and Paul made us feel very welcome, and we had a lovely chat with them. They shared sightseeing ideas and plenty of information about Windermere and Bowness. The room was immaculate, a good size, and had a spacious bathroom. There was also a big DVD selection to borrow. Since we arrived late, Jayne pointed us towards somewhere good to eat in Bowness. Breakfast had lots of choice: I had a full English, my partner had poached egg with salmon, and there were cereals and croissants too. The cottage is a convenient walk from both Windermere and Bowness, around 10/15 minutes. We booked at the last minute and would definitely stay with them again.
