Townfoot Byre, Troutbeck - E.V friendly

The hosts, Alun and Oksana, struck a lovely balance: welcoming and responsive without getting in our way. Townfoot Byre is a gem, cleverly laid out to make good use of the space. It's definitely bijou, but tastefully designed and well appointed. We stayed for a wonderful three-day break, and the place is ideally located for exploring The Lakes. There was plenty to see and do locally, and the property itself had stunning views.

A quaint little apartment for two, with one double bed, around 10 minutes from Windermere. The kitchen is compact, with a toaster, microwave, crude, kettle and coffee machine. It'd be ideal for a weekend, though I wouldn't want to stay much longer. The walk-in shower is lovely. The bathroom is up steep stairs and the handrail is restricted.

The cottage was just the right size and had all the amenities we needed. Our hosts were lovely and helped with charging the car and topping up items we'd run out of. When they heard we were on our honeymoon, they kindly brought us champagne to celebrate. It's in a perfect location, with rolling fields and the quiet of the countryside. A relaxing place to get away, and we'll visit again.

The owners made everything easy, from giving us detailed directions and local tips to letting us use the car charger. They were quick to help and so welcoming that we felt genuinely looked after. The cottage was spotless and clearly cared for, and its quiet, charming feel made a lovely first impression. It was also a great base for the Lakes, with walking trails nearby and friendly village pubs and restaurants. We enjoyed the slower pace and being close to nature. A really memorable country stay, and I’d happily return.
