The salmon and scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best I’ve ever had. Our room was on the compact side, but clean and comfortable. The staff were wonderful, friendly, attentive and keen to help with anything. The hotel felt homely, and I was comfortable there right from the start. I’d definitely recommend a visit.

We only stayed a short time and wished we’d booked longer. The breakfast had plenty of good quality ingredients, cooked perfectly, and the menu offered a nice selection. We didn’t try dinner at the restaurant, but if breakfast is anything to go by, we missed out. The service was excellent, and the Covid precautions helped put us at ease. The accommodation was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated, with a superbly comfortable bed. We were warmly welcomed, and the location made it easy to get to both Windermere and Bowness. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay, and all the best.

Everything was within walking distance, and breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. The hotel was immaculate, and we were greeted in a friendly, helpful way. Our room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower was good too.

When we checked out, we loaded the car and discovered its battery was flat. The staff let us wait in the bar for help, which we really appreciated with the rain pouring down. Before we could arrange roadside help, a man I think was one of the owners offered to jump-start the car. I forgot to ask his name, but he got completely drenched helping us, and my partner and I were very grateful. That kindness, along with the staff’s hospitality and the hotel’s high standards, means we’ll certainly return on our next Lake District visit. We slept soundly for both nights without any noise issues. Our second-floor room was immaculate, tidy and well cared for, with lovely decor. The reception and bar area were also very clean, and the woman who greeted us at check-in was friendly. We weren’t sure what to expect when we arrived, but we’re so glad we chose this hotel. We skipped dinner, but enjoyed the free breakfast, which had plenty of choice to get the day started.

There were a few small drawbacks: the WiFi didn’t reach our second-floor room, the rear car park felt tight when full, and the breakfast coffee was extremely weak, as it often is in British hotels. Still, the room was comfortable, and the location between Windermere and Bowness made both a 5-10 minute walk away. Breakfast had a good range and quality for the price. We also had a good three-course dinner for £22.95, with standard dishes prepared well, a handy option after a long hike. Service was friendly. For a 3-star hotel, it’s a very decent place and I’d recommend it, unless your budget stretches to spending £100s more for extra luxury.
