The Old School House

The dining table is a good size, there are plenty of pans in the kitchen, and there’s Sky TV. But the cleanliness fell well short of what I’d expect for a rental at this price. There was a huge pile of refuse outside the front door when we arrived. Turning on the oven filled the downstairs with a revolting smell and smoke because it was so dirty, so we bought scented candles to help. Some carpeted areas needed hoovering, there were mould patches in rooms, and all the kitchen drawers needed emptying and cleaning. The carpets and upholstery throughout were badly stained or poorly cleaned, and furniture like the sofa was damaged and propped up with books. I don’t want to offend the owner, and I can’t recall ever leaving a low-scoring review before. Still, a rental should be kept to a standard that meets guests’ expectations and matches the price. It isn’t cheap. I asked for recompense, but none has been forthcoming. I understand the property is for sale, which may explain why nobody seems to care about its condition anymore.
