The Swan Inn

We were camping nearby and needed a decent meal when we found this lovely pub. The Sunday roast was incredible, and the peaceful setting was so pretty. The whole team were brilliant, friendly and looked after us so well. We’d had enough of camping, and they managed to find us a room for the night. It was beautiful and came with a fantastic breakfast. I really can’t recommend the place enough.

We’d go back to The Swan Inn and highly recommend it for food. We were a group of about 30, hosting a corporate hike across the Mendip Hills. The pub made us feel welcome and the service was excellent. We had tea and coffee first, then returned after the hike to find our pre-ordered meals served very quickly, piping hot and really tasty.

The team made our special day feel so well looked after. Sam, Claire, Luke and Jack couldn’t have done more for us, and we’re so grateful. The food was amazing, service was great, and the hotel rooms were beautiful with thoughtful touches. Everyone who came commented on what a lovely pub it is, and how good the food and service were. We don’t know how to thank you enough. Thank you so much, guys. Elle.

The Swan Inn has a lovely warm atmosphere, plenty of parking, friendly smiling wait staff, and dogs are welcome. But the service was unbelievably slow, even though it wasn’t very busy and there were at least three staff around. We had to ask for a jug of water, which seemed to be brought to other tables without asking. It took ages for someone to take our drink order, then the Thatcher’s Gold pint took far too long and was flat. The replacement took another 15-20 minutes and was flat again, so I took it to the bar. They gave me another one, which was much better. We only found out after ordering that the pheasant schnitzel was unavailable. Our waitress had told us the lamb rump had run out after we and the neighbouring table showed interest, but she didn’t tell other tables that either dish was unavailable when taking their orders. They only heard once someone ordered one. We ordered starters and mains. The starters didn’t arrive until about an hour in, and then the mains took another 35-40 minutes. Our waitress asked how the mains were when we’d nearly finished. I went to the bar for a dessert menu, and a different waiter eventually cleared our plates, after which we ordered dessert. The food was okay, nothing amazing. With service this slow, I’m hesitant to return.
