The food we ordered was very tasty, especially since the only vegetarian main dish on the menu was the one we could choose. But the rest of the restaurant experience at Minster Mill - TheWilding was so disappointing, particularly when the place promotes special attention and didn't follow through. I reserved four weeks ahead and shared key details about our special occasion and dietary needs. I called again two days before to check, and the pleasant receptionist said she'd speak to the chef and call me back that day. She never did. The setting was beautiful when we arrived, and we were greeted nicely. We got drinks at the bar, then had to carry them up and down stairs. I'd requested a round table near the window, and they showed us the one reserved for us. After we returned from our aperitif, that table had been given to another party. Our server just said, “Oh, my colleague gave it away.” The menus were completely different from the website. When we explained again that we were vegetarian, staff shrugged and said the menu they had was all there was. The chef offered no further help. I hope this feedback is taken as intended so they can do justice to their lovely setting.

We had a great bank holiday getaway and would happily book again. The location is handy for lots of nearby villages, and we had a car. It was easy to find, with plenty of parking and an on-site spa, though the spa costs extra. And the water running through the place is something you should come and see for yourself. Our room was clean and well equipped, with a coffee machine and pods, marshmallows, a bottle opener, hair dryer, iron and board, and the usual bathroom supplies. The bed was big and comfortable, with a desk, armchair, and coffee table too. If you book a room with a mini garden, the fire pit is wonderful. Bring meat or marshmallows and you'll have a lovely time. The staff were great, from reception and housekeeping to the night desk team. They dealt with extra items and requests quickly and efficiently, always with a smile. Highly recommended.

The room was spotless, with lovely patio space, and we had no WiFi or connection problems. Reception, bar, and restaurant staff were all so attentive and friendly, going above and beyond to make my husband's birthday special. A five-star experience all round. The location is lovely, the WiFi has now been sorted, and we had a good time at the wedding. But after seeing reviews on another site saying feedback mattered and the housekeeping team would be spoken to, I hoped the cleanliness issues had been dealt with. They clearly hadn't. The room was small and grubby, with a large carpet stain, cobwebs in every corner and across the beams over the bed, and crusty old milk stains by the kettle. Dust on the light was so thick it looked like months' worth. There were stains on the bathroom carpet, bits of plastic on the floor, a crack behind the toilet, and skirting boards coming away. The dark cupboard had no light bulb, just a dirty fitting. Worst of all, the pillowcase rolled down in the night because the pillows hadn't been put into their sleeves properly, and I woke up to a horribly stained pillow that looked like it had blood on it. My wife checked under the bed before we left to make sure we hadn't dropped anything, and found old hair bands and a pair of old knickers. I know it's an old pub and they may be going for rustic charm, but for £190 a night I'd expect basic cleaning. Also, the spa pool isn't included with a room: you can only swim if you book an expensive treatment.
