The sea view was amazing, but at £600 a night, this was honestly shocking value. We expected two rooms and instead had to squeeze into one, with four beds lined up in a row. The beds were among the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept in, and the cleaning service took ages. The place felt lifeless, with no atmosphere, and the pool was somehow colder than the sea. It also wasn’t wheelchair-friendly. For what we paid, it was a huge disappointment and definitely not worth the money.

We came back for lunch to mark our first wedding anniversary, after getting married here last year. Each visit has been a pleasant experience. It’s a stunning building in a lovely location, and the staff match it with professional, friendly service. The food and drinks are fantastic too. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit special.

The outdoor pool overlooking the sea was a highlight, and we were surprised by how quiet and peaceful it was, even though Woolacombe is just around the corner. There are lovely walks right nearby, and we found a secluded cove to relax in despite it being the middle of the summer holidays. We also enjoyed a tranquil afternoon in the indoor spa and had afternoon tea on the terrace. Huge compliments to the chef for all the food we got to try, and I really appreciated being offered vegetarian options. Our terrace room beside the restaurant felt special, with beautiful sea views, and it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The hotel has a relaxed, informal feel despite being luxurious and well appointed. We had an almost perfect stay. The staff were kind, genuine and accommodating, and made the experience feel special. When we told them that something outside the team’s control had disrupted our first evening meal, they responded very kindly and quickly to our feedback. It was obvious how hard everyone works and how much pride they take in it. We had some lovely chats with people at reception, waiting staff and others, and nothing felt forced or like a chore. As a parent of young children, I really valued having some child-free time. The other families staying there were especially considerate and sweet, and seemed to be having a peaceful, relaxed holiday too, enjoying the hotel and the area. Thanks to the whole team for making us feel so welcome. You’re doing a fantastic job, and I hope the rest of the season goes well.

The views were fabulous, and service was attentive, though it was low season and the restaurant wasn’t busy. The indoor pool is small but clean, and the spa was good.

We had a celebratory afternoon tea and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the day. The views were amazing too, which made it all worthwhile. After this experience, I’d definitely consider staying for a night or two.
