The breakfast was hearty, and the bacon and sausage came from a local butcher, which was good to see. Jeff made us feel welcome, and the room was simple but comfortable with everything we needed. It was handy to find the kettle already filled, plenty of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits, plus walkers' maps in the room. Great value for a stay. I'd recommend it and stay again.

We were really upset to be put in room 3, up two steep flights of stairs, when I had deliberately booked ground floor room 1 to spare my friend those stairs. The owners admitted the mistake, but that didn't make it right, especially since we'd paid in advance. If we hadn't already paid, I think we'd have left and driven home. It cast a shadow over what had been a lovely few days away. A huge disappointment.

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and everything was spotlessly clean. We had a lovely five night visit, with an outstanding breakfast. A great base for exploring Northumberland, and thank you for the hospitality.

The rooms are large, the prices reasonable, and the location is great. I was up and out too early for breakfast. You can see the Cheviot from the roof window, but unless you're six feet tall, you can't really see the view.

The downstairs room was noisy because of the pub down the road. The rooms were comfortable, though, and breakfast was delicious.
