The Old Mill

We stayed at the Old Mill while walking The St Cuthberts Way, and they made us feel very welcome. After a long day on the trail, the clean room and very comfortable beds were just what we needed. Breakfast was superb, and the homemade waffles were a real treat. I'd highly recommend staying here in Wooler.

After a long day on St Cuthberts Way, arriving here to such a warm welcome was just what we needed. It’s a lovely place to stay, and the soft, fluffy duvet and towels set us up nicely for the next stage. Thank you.

The Bamburgh is a beautiful room, with a lovely, spacious bathroom, and breakfast the next morning was delicious. We’d pre-ordered it, which made for an easy start. Paulette gave us clear directions when we called after getting lost, our fault for not bringing the notes, and even waved us over as we came down from the main road. Patrick also shared useful information about our St Cuthbert's Way walk as we left. After all the places we stayed on the route, The Old Mill was our favourite. The service and accommodation were fabulous too.

The location worked perfectly for visiting shops and family friends, and the house and grounds are so pretty. Our rooms were spacious, with plenty of storage, and the decor is lovely. I especially liked the careful craftsmanship of each room’s named keyring. Breakfast was a real highlight. Paulette happily catered for my coeliac needs each morning, and my son, who has sensory issues with food and a limited range he’ll eat, had pancakes with fruit every day. He called them the best pancakes he’d ever had. There was fresh apple and orange juice, tea, and little jars of fruit and yoghurt in the nicely heated conservatory. We could watch the birds feeding and flying about, and even spotted a rabbit in the beautiful garden. Paulette and Patrick are such caring, wonderful hosts. I can’t fault the place and would love to come back someday. Thank you so very much for everything. ❤️
