Stone Cottage

The hosts were a lovely couple, and we had a really comfortable stay. The airport is close by, too. Great value for the money, and I’ll definitely recommend it to others.

Breakfast was a highlight, with full English, cereal, tea or coffee, and fruit juice to choose from. Our family room was very comfortable for me, my wife, and our young children, and the TV even had a built-in DVD player. The proprietors were accommodating, including letting me borrow a phone charger after I forgot mine. We spent six nights there while visiting friends and family around Newcastle. Stone Cottage Guesthouse is an easy walk from both the airport and its Metro station, so getting around the area was straightforward. We thought the price was reasonable and would happily return next time we're in Newcastle. A very nice stay.

The place looks lovely from the outside, but the room photos need updating because our room was quite different. We left two days early and lost £160.00. The en suite had nowhere to set toiletries, the toilet shifted when sat on, and there was no hair dryer. The mattress felt poor quality, though we did sleep okay, and there was only one chair. The shower was cold; once it warmed, that lasted about 60 seconds. The basin took nearly two minutes to run hot. The owner did try to fix the water problem. There was no breakfast available, so this isn't really a B&B. Standards were well below what we expected. A friendly welcome alone wasn't enough.

We stayed one night with our family before an early flight. The staff were very nice, and the rooms were pleasant. The airport is fantastically close, and we left our car there for the week for a small fee.
