Sapey Golf & Country Club

The clubhouse is tidy, the welcome was warm, and the staff were friendly. We went for the Sunday roast after hearing they'd hired a new chef, and it was fantastic. It's good value and would suit families, friends or couples. We'll definitely be back, and I highly recommend going to Sapey to try it.

We loved our two nights in Porthcawl, one of the three lodges. It was clean, crisp, cosy and warm, with lovely green views and a hot tub under the stars. The place is in the middle of nowhere, which suited us, and we'd return. It wasn't quite as private as the online listing suggested, though with only two other cabins it was still quiet and isolated. A few small lights along the path would help, as we had to use our phone torches walking to and from the cabins. I also hope there are teabags and salt and pepper next time. Still, it was an amazing experience.

The lodge was beautiful and had everything we needed, from pans to extra pillows. We really enjoyed the hot tub, which was simple to use, and we'll miss it. There was a brief power cut, but the friendly staff dealt with it right away and always checked we were comfortable when we saw them. The club is far enough from Worcester city centre to feel secluded, though only a short drive away. Thanks for the complimentary wine on arrival. We'd definitely like to visit again.

The staff were accommodating and helpful, and there's a nice golf shop inside. The course at Upper Sapey is well maintained, though if you tend to slice, expect to lose some balls on the front nine. The greens can be quick, so keep that in mind.
