The Chase Inn

We booked at the last minute, and the room was cold. There was an oil heater, but it wasn't enough with the central heating off. Although food was supposedly served until 9, at 7:30 we were told to order because cooking stopped at 8 for darts. We ate there after being told the chef was as good as a Michelin-star chef, but the food fell far short. When I questioned the dish, he was rude, then abrupt with us when we bought drinks. The room cost £75 but felt more like a £40 room. The cleanliness was very disappointing, as the photos show.

We booked a night for a nearby wedding, and the owners were so accommodating with our requests. Nothing was too much trouble, which we really appreciated. It's a fantastic little pub for a short stay, with ample parking for a small, quiet village. Breakfast was reasonably priced too. We'd stay again if we were in the area.

We had dinner for six, cooked by the barman, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and generous portions. He was on his own but still made us feel welcome. The pub was quiet, with good local ales on tap and friendly locals. Our family room for four was pleasant and clean, fine for a night while breaking up the drive home from North Wales. There was some road noise, but traffic was light and it didn't disturb us much. Breakfast was nicely cooked and did the job. Good value for money.

A cute, peaceful stop on our way to Wales. The room was okay, but breakfast was wonderful, with cereal, pastries and a cooked option that was prepared beautifully for us. Check-in and check-out could be explained a bit more clearly.
