The Bothy

The setting was pretty, but we were less than pleased with our stay at The Bothy and wouldn't recommend it. The room was very small, and there was nowhere to put suitcases if you're staying longer than overnight. The kitchen wasn't well equipped. After we'd already been there for two days, the owner finally brought us a frying pan. She said everything we needed to know was on the tablet in the room, but that wasn't true, and we had to Google how to use the hob. The owner was hardly available. It might be nice for a weekend, but our stay wasn't what we hoped for.

Very comfortable, in a rural location. There's a lot packed into a small space, perhaps too much. We didn't need or use the cooking facilities, which included lots of equipment but left little room to prepare food. I loved the real coffee and bread left for breakfast, though there were no cereals despite what had been published.

Elaine ignored our messages until the time to rebook had passed, then kept all our money without providing a stay. We were a young family trying to support a small business during the pandemic, and I feel she took advantage of that. Given my experience, it worries me that Elaine presents herself as qualified to host a ‘Holiday Let Success Podcast’, especially if her advice reflects how she treated us. Looking for a host who may mislead you and leave you without accommodation? This was our experience.

A lovely little hideaway, snug and comfortable, with beautiful Worcestershire countryside all around and a well-kept garden. Elaine was so helpful, and there were lots of thoughtful touches during our stay. I can't recommend this retreat enough.
