The Hall Park Hotel

The hotel’s location is handy, just a couple of hundred yards from town, and breakfast was nice, with cereal and a full English. I had to ask for a bowl and cutlery, though, as none had been put out. Most parking seems to be on the road outside, and there looked to be space for only three cars at the hotel. There’s a permit system for on-street parking at certain times, but I was told I could leave my car there overnight. It’s a traditional hotel with a bar and restaurant. Some of the decor is tired and could use freshening up. In my room, there was a large clear-glass window beside the toilet. A vertical blind was there, but it didn’t cover the window very well.

Make sure you have dinner here, the food was so good and you won’t be disappointed. The service and staff were lovely, and we’ll definitely be back and keep recommending it. Our dog was welcome too, and the park right across the road made walks easy. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and set up perfectly for what we needed.

Paul even messaged while we were at a party to say our pup was fine and to enjoy our evening. That was such a lovely thing to experience. Breakfast was great, with pretty much anything we wanted, and the lovely woman serving even gave our pup a sausage after he’d been too excited to eat the night before. She also cleans the rooms and is a real asset to the hotel. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of heaters to keep it warm and cosy. We had a lovely view of the park across the road, a big bathroom and towel, toiletries, a hairdryer, and the added bonus of an iron and ironing board. The fresh, comfortable bedding was great, though I would have liked a slightly bigger bed. Self check-in was easy, with the paperwork and key ready and all the information clearly laid out. It felt like a warm, cosy home away from home. Highly recommend, and thank you for everything you do for your guests.

We’ve just left after our fifth visit and have already booked number six for July. It always feels like home from home. The rooms are lovely and clean, Paul and the staff are helpful and always on hand, and breakfast is cooked to order with a huge selection. Nothing is too much trouble.
