Heene Terrace

A lovely little spot with flowers and benches, plus a plaque where you can read about the place. Dogs aren’t allowed there anymore. It’s nice to walk past on the way to the seafront, where you can get an ice cream, coffee or even a gin, though that’s only there in summer. No golf here, but there’s a nice walk to another park we call the shark park, with amazing shark and other animal statues that are fun for the kids.

We went on a hot day, and the flat seafront path worked really well for my elderly mother using her walker. There are seats along the way and lots of toilets, so I think it’s ideal for older people. I found it a very nice walk and it suited us perfectly.

It’s hard to deny this place looks impressive and historic, but it only takes two or three minutes to see it all. I wouldn’t make it a destination. At most, it’s a quick pause on the way somewhere more useful, like the toilets on the prom or pubs and places to eat, including McDonald's, just four or five minutes away. It feels a bit pretentious.

If you want a quieter beach than Brighton, with fewer people and less noise, Worthing is the place to look. I’m sure it’ll be the next city down south. There are rocks, seagulls and ice cream, plus plenty of bins, so pick up your rubbish and help keep this British seaside as shiny as possible!
