Little Pentre Barn with seasonal Swimming Pool

The quiet setting and those incredible views made this such a lovely start to 2026 and our early birthday celebrations. Even after dark, the stars were stunning, and the log burner kept us warm through the snow. There’s a covered outdoor pool, several fire pits and walks around the grounds. A new building with a hot tub and sauna is being fitted out, so we’re looking forward to coming back and trying them. John was welcoming and friendly throughout. We can’t wait to stay again.

The barn is quirky, cosy and comfortable, with plenty to do nearby and good places to eat. The owner was warm and helpful, and our daughter loved gathering fresh eggs in the morning and feeding the chickens later in the day. There’s enough phone signal for calls, but the internet connection isn’t reliable. That suited us: we read, watched a DVD and played board games, though Wi-Fi is available if you want it. The wood burner made the place feel especially nice. The electric meter needn’t put you off, just bring £1 coins. We spent about £5 over 3 days, using the electric shower daily and the heaters briefly at night. John’s welcome folder has lots of useful information too. A perfect little break for us.

We had 2 nights in the Stable from 14th Nov 2025 and really enjoyed it. The local area is lovely, and the views are beautiful. It rained hard on our first night, but the log burner kept the whole place cosy. John made us feel welcome and was always around if we needed help.

We’ve had long weekends in both the Shepherd's Hut and Dragon's Hut, and each time it felt like a proper escape. The setting is beautiful and so peaceful, even on a short stay. Part of me wants this place to succeed because it’s genuinely brilliant, and part of me would rather keep it to myself.
