I stayed in room #9, up at the peak of the building, and could see the city from my window. The innkeep was super friendly and hospitable, and the traditional English breakfast was wonderful. The place is in a great spot for walking around the whole city. When I went over for World Cup, I stayed here, and I’d certainly come back. Clifton Moor is only a mile or so away on foot, with a Tesco for food and supplies, though I took the bus back.

It made a good, fairly central base for our visit, and the room was comfortable, if not huge. Breakfast was fine if you wanted a boiled or poached egg. “We don’t do fried,” they said. I’ve never heard of that in my life. It didn’t spoil the stay, but it did cost them a star.

Andrew, the owner, is friendly, and the room was clean, a decent size and had all the amenities we wanted. It’s a 20-minute walk from the station, but definitely worth it. Breakfast was included in the price and was the best example of an English breakfast there is. It was also the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in so far.

The room was perfectly satisfactory and very good quality for what we paid. Breakfast was lovely, had lots of options, and it’s great that it’s included with the room. The guesthouse is a lovely place to stay, and the station isn’t too far on foot if you take the cycle path across the river. I’d love to stay again next time I’m in York!

The town centre and main station were an easy, fairly short walk away. I had a cosy double room with a shared bathroom, and both the bathroom and toilet were clean. The bed was comfy, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was a lovely full English. All for a very reasonable price. I'd definitely recommend it.
